Forrest Early Childhood Centre is situated in the parliamentary triangle with an outlook to parliament house in a natural leafy setting. Our team prides itself on creating a happy, friendly environment, providing excellent care and education, with an inclusive play based curriculum.
“In 2020 our 4 year old son Jack was diagnosed type 1 diabetes. As a consequence of this condition Jack is at risk of high or low blood sugar levels. These levels can change rapidly and continually over the course of a day and in extreme cases can result in coma and hospitalisation.
Jackson attended Forrest Early Childhood Care at the time he was diagnosed. The Centre went to considerable effort to accommodate Jack’s health needs and provide him a safe environment. This included the institution of a management plan, establishing a monitoring regime for his blood sugar, and assigning a dedicated staff member to watch over him. Several staff also undertook diabetes training and education to better understand the condition and support Jack.
Post-diagnosis Jack continued to experience a happy and rewarding childhood with his friends and educators at Forrest. His condition, and the management needs that came with it, did not interfere with the excellent learning and social environment. We believe that Jacks curious and playful view on the world has been positively shaped by Forrest Early Childhood Centre.”
“The Educators at Forrest Early Education & Care Centre really make this childcare center stand out! The entire team of educators go above and beyond to get to know my child, celebrate his milestones, and create a sense of belonging and community.” (Forrest EECC Parent)
Every child is supported to participate in the program where each child’s agency is promoted, enabling them to make the choices and decisions. Children are active participants in their learning and develop a sense of autonomy which in turn encourages cognitive development.
Pedagogical practices guide our educators in curriculum development and assist planning, implementation and evaluating children’s learning by adapting a holistic approach.
Educators intentionally scaffold children’s understanding and learning by making use of spontaneous and intentional teachable moments to extend children’s learning. Educators use reflective practice as a form of ongoing learning which helps us to improve the quality of our learning programs.
We emphasise the importance of building strong partnerships with families through regular and open communication with which allows us to build trust and helps children reach their full potential in the early years.
We are proud to say that the families, children and educators at our Forrest centre come from a wide range of backgrounds giving us a rich and culturally diverse population.
As part of the daily fee all of centres provide a full nappy service. Linen for sleep times is also provided and is laundered by the centre.
We serve nutritious meals and snacks throughout the day.

We cater for children from six weeks to six years of age and the centre is open from 7.30am to 6.00pm. The rooms are split into three distinct pods based on the child’s age and each room is named after an Australian native animal based on the children’s interest of animals:
Tadpoles: Six weeks–15 months old
Froglets: 15 months – 2 years old
Possums: 2 – 3 years old
Sugar Gliders: 2 – 3 years old
Dingoes: 3 – 4 years old
Tasmanian Tigers: 4 – 6 years old
The staff in our Preschool pod care for children aged between three years and school age in a stimulating learning environment. Our Preschool pod encourages independence and offers many opportunities for the children to do things for themselves.
The centre has an open door policy, inviting parents and educators to be a part of the daily program as much as is possible. We invite families to visit at any time and become involved in the centre as much as they desire. We hold family information sessions throughout the year so families can contribute to the Centre Community.
