Community Bus Driver – Community Services #1
Community Services #1 is looking to expand the Community Services team to have an in-house Community Bus Driver. The Community Bus Driver will provide safe, flexible and reliable transport in the Canberra Community in line with the ACT Government’s Community Bus Program.
- Part-Time position form Monday – Thursday from 8:30am – 3;00pm based in our Narrabundah Head Office until the 28th of February 2025.
- SCHADS level 3 role: $37.35 – $40.05 per hour plus superannuation commensurate with skills and experience
We are looking for someone who:
- Has had previous experience working with vulnerable people and provided transportation support within the community
- Holds at least a valid Light Rigid (LR) drivers’ licence,
- Has a current ACT WWVP card or are willing to obtain,
- Has a First aid, asthma and anaphylaxis certificates, or are willing to obtain,
What you will be responsible for as a Community Bus Driver:
- Supporting clients entering and exiting the bus as required, in alignment with best practice work health and safety (WHS) standards.
- Develop bus routes as per the bookings received.
- Engage with clients to make sure they are safe and comfortable.
- Ensure the bus is kept in a clean, well-maintained condition.
- Coordinate vehicle maintenance and service requirements, in consultation with line manager.
- Advise line manager of any accidents or incidents involving clients or the bus and/or changes or concerns regarding the clients as soon as possible.
- Document services, safety checks and vehicle maintenance using technology and paper-based systems in a clear, logical, understandable and timely way.
- Ensure the client’s privacy and dignity are maintained and all interactions are always respectful.
